Common Appliance Problems in College Grove Homes
The failures we are called for most, in the words homeowners actually use, with the likely causes ranked the way we rank them on a visit.

Start With Your Symptom
Fridge warm, freezer cold
The classic airflow fault: a dead fan, frost-blocked vents or a stuck damper starves the fresh food side while the freezer keeps up.
Washer stopped full of water
Drain path trouble first: pump filter, hose or standpipe, with the pump itself second on the list.
Dryer tumbles, no heat
A heat circuit part on electric models or a tired igniter on gas, usually with a vent restriction behind it.
Dishes come out dirty
Water temperature, spray arms and the filter explain most poor cleaning before any part fails.
Oven bakes unevenly or slowly
A partly failed element, a drifting sensor or a slow gas igniter, each testable with temperature logging.
Ice maker went silent
Check the arm, the filter, the freezer temperature and the frozen fill tube before the assembly itself.
Disposal hums or leaks
A jam or a tired motor for the hum; a bottom leak usually means the internal seal and the unit are done.
Microwave runs, food cold
The heating circuit or a door switch. Built-in and over-the-range units are often worth the repair.
Water on the floor
Find the source under operation: hoses, valves, door seals and drain connections each leak in their own pattern.
One habit helps every diagnosis: note the error code, the point in the cycle where things go wrong, and any new sound, and photograph the model tag inside the door or on the frame. That two-minute note saves real time on site. General safety guidance worth reading: U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission appliance safety guidance.
Frequently Asked Questions
My appliance shows an error code. Should I just search the code and order the part?
Use the code as a clue, not a verdict. Codes name the system that reported trouble, and several parts share each system. Testing the parts behind the code is cheaper than returning the wrong one, and our diagnostic service exists for exactly that gap.
Two appliances broke in the same month. Is my house the problem?
Sometimes. Power surges, hard water and a shared vent or drain can take out unrelated appliances close together. Tell us about both on the call and we will look for the common cause during the visit.
Will I know the price before work begins?
Yes. We diagnose first, explain what we found in plain language, and give you an upfront price for your options. Nothing is repaired or installed without your go-ahead.
When is a problem urgent enough for the emergency line?
Food warming in a fridge or freezer, water actively spreading, gas smells, sparking or smoke, and leaks above finished rooms. Everything else can usually wait for business hours without getting worse, if the appliance is switched off.
